I never realized that I was a “glass half empty” person until I started running. Before my first half marathon, first full marathon, first trail race, or first obstacle course race, I would start off thinking I would not be able to finish any of those. My nerves would get the better of me and I would begin to doubt myself.
With the support of my running friends, putting the miles in was more of a fun activity rather than a another training day. So when it was time for each race, I come to realize that I could finish and that I made the obstacles bigger in my head.
With each accomplishment, I tell myself “That wasn’t so bad after all.” And just like that, I sign myself up for another race and even bigger goals. Next up? Ultra marathon bound!
